Declutter
Decluttering is essential for showcasing your home in the best light, especially when preparing for a real estate photography session. Start by tackling one room at a time, focusing on high-traffic areas like the living room and kitchen, where clutter tends to accumulate.
Remove personal items, excess decor, and anything that could distract potential buyers. Organize functional spaces, ensuring surfaces are clear and that each room has a defined purpose. For outdoor areas, tidy up the yard, removing any landscaping debris and ensuring the entrance is inviting.
Make it bright
The right lighting can transform a space, making it feel open and welcoming—essential elements in showcasing a residential home. We will start by turning on all of the lights and opening all the blinds. We don’t want to raise them as that will create harsh shadows with the sun, but we do want as much light as we can. This will create a warm ambiance that potential buyers can envision themselves living in.
Remove motion
In real estate photography, capturing the essence of a home means prioritizing clarity and consistency. Distractions like spinning fans or a TV show can detract from a property's appeal. To enhance the presentation of each space, it’s essential to minimize these distractions. We recommend turning off working fans and ensuring TVs are also turned off or displaying neutral content. This simple preparation allows the viewer to focus on the home's unique qualities without unnecessary interruptions.
Final notes
Please make sure to move any cars from the driveways prior to our arrival. If you find yourself needing to hide any items, rest assured that we almost never take photographs of the garage, so you are more than welcome to store whatever you need to keep out of sight in there for the duration of the shoot.
